The author
Mattias Hjelmstedt is a Swedish technology entrepreneur and the author of The Rift Sequence. He founded ESN, the company behind Battlelog, which was acquired by Electronic Arts, and went on to build companies including Voddler, Magine, and Utopia Music across gaming, streaming, media, and music technology. His career has placed him inside the kinds of systems The Fourth Visitor examines: high-growth organizations, data-driven decisions, institutional pressure, and the way individually rational choices compound at scale. The Fourth Visitor is his first novel. It grew from years of work across science, technology, and organizational behavior, and from a conviction that humanity's greatest strengths are often inseparable from its greatest risks. He lives in Stockholm.
